PREVIEW: Breakers 7s Season
TODAY marks the start of the 2024 preperation of the Newport Breakers with the previously successful 7s program kicking off once again.
With training to begin at Porters in scorching heat, the players will be putting themselves through hell to try and get ready for their title defences of both the Hamilton and Warringah competitions. Beginning Pre-Xmas has never been a guarantee for Newport rugby, but with three competitions on the horizon for 2024 the players are looking for a strong start to match their strong singlet tan lines come the start of next year.
Newport Rugby Schedule
Mick Whale Rugby 7s - 10th February 2024
St John Oval, Charlestown NSW
Hamilton has been a drama filled weekend for the Newport Breakers over the last couple of years, with two consecutive years losing under controversial circumstances in 2021 and 2022. Finally in 2023, NRC turned up to bring home the biccies.

Warringah Rugby 7s - 12th February 2024
Rat Park, Narrabeen NSW
Our "home" comp has always been a great way for the club to get together and watch the cream of the crop battle it out for a shot at the silverware. Last year, Newport held off local rivals Forest to secure the cheque and fill the cups of the Breaker faithful, this year they want to do it again! Warringah 7s is a great occassion to watch all tiers of Northern Beaches rugby compete against "The Rest". In 2023, the players took their game to a new level and have promised to rise again in 2024. Home competitions don't come around too often, so mark this one down in the diary for a few cold beers, mid morning swims and some post competition antics at a local licensed venue.

Kiama 7s - 19th February 2024
Kiama Showground
This is most likely one of the most recognisable 7s events in the country with the full scale of rugby entertainment across all levels. Newport competed tirelessly last year but were knocked out early in the event. Hosted at the picturesque Kiama showground and amongst the epic South Coast towns, this is a cracking excuse to get away for the weekend to support the boys.
